Time-Out Everybody!

glass-hourglass-hours-39396Time always seem to go by so fast alongside with our busy schedules and drills. I am sure by now most of us have realized that we have already reached half of the calendar year. Yes we did! And it is a wonderful blessing to have reached this far again. So how will you describe your first half year experience? Do you feel tired, overwhelmed, barely there? How about feeling positive, happy and so looking forward to the rest of the year? Could be both?

If you have been following our first two articles on Self-Care in this site, we have shared with you helpful tips on how we can take care of ourselves physically and mentally which can enable us to feel energized, positive and happy.

For our last installment article on Self-Care, we will be sharing some more tips on how to do a personal time-out. We all need to break free momentarily from our routines so we can feel energized and focused in meeting our life purpose. The tips we shared before and what we are about to discuss will hopefully help carry you through the remaining parts of 2018 feeling like a winner! Here are Tips #7-10.

Tip #7 Go and visit a new place.

When was the last time you visited a place you have never been to before? Not all of us do this since we are always tied down with our usual routine. You don’t need to travel far and spend your hard earned savings to do this. There must be places within your community or nearby which remain unexplored (museums, parks, art galleries, local shops and cafes, etc.). These new sites can offer you a new perspective or can stir your creativity. Sometimes by just going out of the comforts of your home can give you that boost of energy you need.  Now, if you have extra money, then plan a short trip whether it is out of town or out of the country. Being exposed to new surroundings or a different culture can help draw out your senses and can help bring new ways of looking at things. They key is to move and be exposed to new elements!

Tip #8 Surround yourself with positive vibes.                     

Positive vibes are generated from good sources of positive feelings such as family and  friends, even pets. Stay away from people or things which can rob you of your happiness and good disposition. There are people who can drain you with their negativity, leaving you tired, angry and overwhelmed.  Cut ties with these people immediately. Stay within your true circle – those who are life-giving and will truly have your best interests in mind. Spend time with people who matter to you most (and your pets if you have).

Tip #9 Relax and Let go! 

Do you feel guilty the moment you start relaxing and letting go of the 100 things in your head? Most of us do! We say just let go and enjoy the moment whether its a road trip weekend you planned with your family or friends or just simply a chill out day alone. Some people cannot resist checking their work emails thru their phones or tablets while on a family day-out. This action not only will go against your personal time out but can also hurt your loved ones as they will be expecting your 100% attention. Keep your work phones and tablets away when its family/friends time or during your “Alone or Me time”.

Tip #10 Accept yourself. 

This probably is the most difficult to do among the tips (for some). It’s easy to take pride with our strengths but it takes a lot of self clarity and maturity to accept our flaws. Part of Self-Care is being aware of who we are at the different stages of our life and genuinely accepting who we are and who we are not. Let’s stop comparing ourselves with other people. Our comparison point should always be ourselves. How much have we grown from our experiences may they be good or bad. Once we start owning our actions, and accepting the good and not so good in us, we can begin to feel empowered, which is a by-product of Self-Care.

1. Indulge in a body massage or spa treatment.

2. Break away (temporarily) and head to your personal sanctuary.

3. Be present in the moment.

4. Engage in a new hobby or go back to your favorite one.

5. Regularly care for your physical body.

6. Commune with Mother Nature.

7. Go and visit a new place.

8. Surround yourself with positive vibes.

9. Relax and Let go!

10. Accept yourself.

We hope that you can invest time in trying out any of these (if not all) in your Self Care journey. More Self Care Tips – You are Worthy of Love!

bill-billboard-empty-953162Finally, here’s the 2nd installment of our Self-Care Blog! Self Care has been a buzz word for over a time now perhaps to address the more agile world we live in.  We deal with a lot of changes by the minute, one barely has the time to cope.

Here are the next three tips which we think all of us can do to help center ourselves amidst the ever busier life we are into.

Tip # 4 Engage in a new hobby or go back to your favorite one.  

adorable-animal-art-877697.jpgWhat do you consider as your hobby? It usually is a favorite thing you spend your time and money on. I enjoy reading before, until it became book hoarding rather than reading (because I was too busy then!). I always wanted to learn photography but that means I need to invest on my own camera so I need time to save for that hobby to happen. A lot of women and men go into adult coloring now (it became and it is still is a a craze at some point!), which to me is an extension of what we love doing before when we were children.

There are so many hobbies to choose from but what is important is that you enjoy what you do and that it makes you happy! You can try exploring a new hobby or you can always go back to a favorite one — in my case its reading!

Tip # 5 Regularly care for your physical body. 

arms-care-check-905874.jpgWe only have one body so its a must that we take care of it. Make time for a regular doctor’s check-up and laboratory tests. Seek a physician when you are sick and don’t self medicate! Nothing matters when we are down with illness or if we feel weak. No one wants a health scare! Our health is our wealth as they say.

pexels-photo-374632.jpegMake time for exercise as well. It can be just a 15-minute walk, or run.  Others do Yoga, Zumba, Pilates or house chores even! Exercise need not be complicated. Choose one that you enjoy and that you can do without hurting yourself. Always consult with your doctor first which exercise would fit you best. The challenge to doing regular exercise is the will to do it. Focus and be disciplined!

Tip # 6 Commune with Mother Nature.

back-view-beautiful-bloom-906002Spending time with Nature brings a natural high and feelings of peace and contentment. Mother Nature in the form of the mountains, the sea, flowers, forest, valleys, plains (even farm and wild animals) is visually enchanting and brings home a feeling of being one with the Divine Creator.  I always look forward to road trips outside of the city so I can see and smell the trees and all things green. Doing so renews my spirit and recharges my energy.  When we surround ourselves with beautiful things, it helps us generate positive feelings. You need not go far to commune with Nature, you can appreciate your garden at home, or your flower pot inside the house. Take time to appreciate the gifts of nature and be renewed!
